1990s | The Nineties, So Fresh

A lot of the influence and culture of the 1980s bled into the next couple years. The 90s were the year that grunge and goth really began to take off. Hip Hop music became mainstream and could be heard on every radio in the country. There is a lot of influence from the 90s style that is apparent in our current generation! It was also the start of combining different looks from different decades. Come explore the fly threads and fresh styles of the 1990s...

THE CHICA'S

Women's clothing was generally loose fitting. All sorts of jeans were worn during this time period, especially Mom Jeans. Belly shirts and mini skirts could be easily seen on the streets. Because inspiration was coming from absolutley anywhere there wasn't any set hemline or style anymore. Originality and being unique began to be the popular thing to do.

A lot of pieces could be worn by both boys and girls, like baseball caps and overalls. Lots of people liked putting only 1 strap on their shoulders when they wore overalls. Skorts were all over the place. And simple spagehtti strap dresses were very popular. Grahpic Tees and Sweaters were a go-to. There was a lot of influence from T.V. shows like Saved by the Bell, Sex in the City, and Friends. Every woman in America wanted to look like Jennifer Aniston with her "Rachel" haircut.

THE BOYS

These guys were all about their Air Jordans. This is when it began to start being really important what kind of footwear you wore on your feet. Baseball caps and bucket hats were the cherry on top!

You could find a lot of boys in extra long tee shirts and long shorts. Since hip hope began having more of an influence, you could see a lot of what they wore finding their way into other's closests. Mullets and frosted tips were one of the two most popular hairstyles. For a more formal look, a lot of men wore turtleneck sweaters
